Unfortunately for me and for this shop, one rotten egg seems to have spoiled the bunch. Every time theres been someone really cool behind the counter-delivering an insight that a casual reader wouldn’t have… except this time. After, he begins to blast really noisy music in an attempt to get everyone out of the store… I don’t really know the guy by face, so I’m assuming he wasn’t one of the owners of the shop. He mutters something about how he’s been there since 7(someone complaining about working at a comic shop is not what anyone wants to hear). Came with a bunch of friends… willing to open the wallet… asked the guy behind the counter for advice on a purchase… was told I «had three minutes» to make a decision instead. Started buying and selling in 1976 at garage sales and flea markets. Worked for Comics & Fantasies, Roger Grant, in 1979 and Bob Sidebottom in 1982. ft., one of the largest comic shops in California. Moved two doors down the following year into it’s current and much larger spot of over 2000 sq. Purchased R & K Comics in 2010 and merged the two stores together in the R & K location. Together with Joe Levine, purchased Big Guy’s Comics form Dick Swan in 2002 and changed the name to Comic Collector Shop, an homage to Bob Sidebottom’s Comic Collector Shop originally located in downtown San Jose back in the late 60’s!
